Sevierville police said a man's decision to run a redlight helped land him in jail.

Records show Robert Potter, 26, of Gatlinburg is wanted in Knox County and has a suspended license.

Police said Potter ran a redlight on Friday. When an officer stopped him, he realized Potter already had an active warrant for allegedly failing to appear to court for a theft charge.

Police said a quick search of Potter's car also turned up illegal drugs. According to authorities, they found about 75 grams of what was believed to be marijuana, four Roxycontine prescription pills and two pipes.

Potter was charged with the following: distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana), possession of a synthetic narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, failure to appear (Knox County warrant) and failure to obey a traffic control device.

He was taken to the Sevier County Jail.
