A Knox County family is counting its blessings. After a nasty car crash, a group of good Samaritans pulled them from their smoking mini-van.
Brad and Jessica Ingram were running errands Thursday afternoon.
"We stopped at a stoplight at North Peters Road, leaving the Lowe's parking lot," Jessica Ingram said.
Before the light turned green, Brad had a seizure. His foot landed on the gas.
"We went full speed for about 120 yards, straight towards the Dick's Sporting Goods front window," Ingram said.
Jessica grabbed the wheel and tried to steer.
"We hit two pylons that were in front of the store," she said.
The van stopped short of the main entrance, resting on its side. With smoke and gasoline pouring out, bystanders rushed to help.
"It seemed to me that there were up to 40 people all around. They were customers, they were employees, and all of them were helping and doing something," Ingram said.
They helped her get 21-month-old Titus and 3-week-old Abigail out from the wreckage and got the van upright.
Brad now has facial fractures and a broken shoulder. Jessica has two broken bones in her arms. Aside from a cut on Titus' head, the children are fine.
"My only tears that I shed that day were when I was thanking God," Ingram said.
She says there's no way to show how grateful she is to everyone who rushed to their aid.
"I just am so appreciative of people like that."
Doctors determined Brad's seizure was a side effect from medication he had been taking.
