A state representative was removed from the University of Tennessee-South Carolina game after a confrontation with authorities.
According to a release, Rep. Stacey Campfield was wearing a wrestling mask on Halloween and arguing with officers.
A police report said a mother told an officer her two young daughters, both younger than six, were upset by a man in a nearby section. Authorities said he was wearing a Luchador's (Mexican wrestler) full head mask, and it was bothering the girls.
The mask was in violation of the university's rule, banning masks inside the stadium.
Officers said they approached Campfield and asked him to remove the mask. He took it off, but then stood up and walked away. Suspicious about his odd behavior, authorities followed him. They called out to him, but the lawmaker didn't respond.
The officers said they were concerned he thought they were asking him to leave the section instead of simply to remove the mask. When they stopped him to clarify, the officers said Campfield became confrontational. According to authorities, he kept interrupting them, saying "I was just taking a walk. Is it illegal to walk around?"
The officers asked to see his ticket and discovered he had been sitting in the wrong section the entire time. According to the police report, Campfield continued to argue with the officers. They requested his identification and wrote his information on the ticket. Then, the authorities escorted him from the stadium.
They later ran his driver's license and learned his identity.
