Members of the Engineering Association at the Tennessee Valley Authority have voted to affiliate with the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
The association said the vote Tuesday was 856 to 88.
The EA was formed in 1937 and represents more than 2,600 engineers, scientists, technicians and other white-collar professionals at TVA.
The association said in a statement that the federation can help lobby Congress and understands engineering and power generation issues.
The federation represents 65,000 highly skilled, white-collar workers in the public and private sectors.
