Things were all set for American Eagle Airlines inaugural flight of daily service from McGhee Tyson Airport to Miami--and then Atlanta got in the way.

An FAA computer glitch in Atlanta prompted flight cancellations and delays around the country.

East Tennessee's McGhee Tyson Airport didn't see any cancellations, just delays of about half an hour.

And American Eagle Airlines' most anticipated flight of the day was part of that.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on the flight was set for Thursday morning at 7:45 a.m. at McGhee Tyson's Gate 4.

The Knoxville to Miami flight is scheduled for 8:40 a.m. daily, and the Miami to Knoxville flight is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. daily.

The airline will offer daily, non-stop flights to Miami. The flight could open up more convenient vacationing opportunities for East Tennesseans--Miami is a frequent launching spot for cruise ships and a popular vacation spot in its own right.

The Miami flight brings the total of nonstop flights offered at McGhee Tyson to 22.
