WASHINGTON -- Sixteen Tennessee postal stations remain on the chopping block, according to a newly revised list of possible closings released on Friday by the U.S. Postal Service.

Knoxville's Norwood station is on that list.

The Postal Service reduced the list of sites being considered for closing from 371 to 241 but all of the Tennessee sites previously on the list remain.

The sites still on the list include Donelson, Glenview and Northeast in Nashville; the downtown, Hilldale and Ringgold in Clarksville; Bemis in Jackson; and Norwood in Knoxville.

Four sites are in Memphis and four in Chattanooga.

The closings are part of a series of cost-saving moves made by the Postal Service. No date has been set for the final recommendations for closings.
