An annual downtown Knoxville tradition closed up shop on Saturday, sort of.
This weekend marked the end of the sixth season of the Market Square Farmers' Market, but the vendors won't be leaving the square quite yet.
"The weather's so beautiful now that it's really hard to go back inside," said Charlotte Tolley, executive director of the Market Square Farmers' Market. "We're usually, by this time of year, getting kind of cold and dreary, and it's like, 'well, I'd like to go inside for a while,' but it's a beautiful day. It's hard to think that we won't be back next week."
The market will be taking next week off, but after that, the Farmers' Market will become the Holiday Market.
"We'll have a fire pit for marshmallow-roasting, and the ice rink will be open, so it'll just be a whole day of shopping and fun downtown," Tolley said.
The Holiday Market will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the first three Saturdays in December - the 5th, 12th and 19th.
Craft vendors and artisan food vendors will make up the majority of booths, but many local farmers will still offer produce, too.
