Two years ago, Fuad Reveiz and his family could have been a magazine story for the good life. Today, they are the epitome of the Volunteer spirit moving forward despite a string of problems.
Just before Christmas, 2007, an echocardiogram discovered a tumor in Shane's heart, putting his dreams of playing for the Tennessee Vols in question. Months later, daughter Brianna was involved in a life-threatening auto accident.
Fast forward to August 2008, and a sinking economy takes down Fuad's successful building business. Then, in the fourth game of Nick's first year as a walk-on starting linebacker, he tears up his knee and is out for the year.
10 Sports Director Steve Phillips talked with the Reveiz family about their trials and how they've grown closer as a group to persevere for a three part series on 10 News.
Fuad Reveiz is now serving as a spokesman for Heart Screens for Teens, a company that hopes to make the echocardiogram that found a tumor on Shane heart available and affordable for young athletes. For more information, there is a website at heartscreensforteens.com.
