Western Ave. tractor trailer crash kills Knoxville man

A Knoxville man was killed when his Buick hit a semi truck on Western Ave Tuesday morning.

According to the KPD, 80-year-old Glynn Franklin Beck from Knoxville was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer was 46-year-old Anthony Jackson from Milledgeville, GA. He was driving a truck for Triple C Express of Georgia.

KPD expects Western Ave. to be reopened by noon.

Crews on scene have confirmed that a man was killed when his car slid under a tractor trailer bed on Western Ave. Tuesday morning.

Around 8:00a.m, the driver of the car was headed eastbound on Western Ave. A tractor trailer then turned onto the road heading westbound.

The gold Buick slid under the trailer, which was carrying a full load of pipes.

The jaws of life had to be used on the driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

At last posting, the KPD was investigating the accident and interviewing the driver and witnesses.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.

According to Knox County dispatchers, KPD is investigating a wreck involving a tractor trailer and a car on the 4700 block of Western Avenue between Hinton and Ball Camp.

Western Ave. between Third Creek and Hinton is closed.

This is the latest in a long list of accidents Tuesday morning; some caused by ice.

Earlier, one car flipped and the driver was trapped on Beaver Ridge Rd near Western. The driver made it out ok and was transported to a nearby hospital out of precaution.
