The "Knox Volks Motor Club" handed over more than $3,000 to the Knox Area Rescue Ministries on Friday. Club members raised the money during their annual "Summer Jam" last month at Chilhowee Park.

KARM said the donation comes at one of the toughest seasons for donations. "The summer months are really tight for us, we've just received funding to provide over 1, 700 meals which will more than cover an entire day's worth of groceries, about a day and half's worth," said KARM Vice-President Angie Sledge.

This year's gift was more than twice as large as the donation the motor club gave to KARM last year.
