The check-out line at Emery's 5 & 10 wrapped throughout the store Friday afternoon
Knox County officials have delcared the first Cash Mob a success.
On Friday, people were encouraged through social media to visit Emery's 5 and 10 to spend a couple of bucks. It's an effort spearheaded by Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett to help businesses in South Knoxville who have been affected by the Henley Bridge closure.
Store owner Ron Emery told county officials he rang up 526 sales on Friday, with 122 on Saturday. He estimated 700-800 people participated in the Cash Mob throughout the day on Friday, not just during the designated hours.
The county is definitely planning to host another Cash Mob. Details will be coming soon. You can keep up with Knox Cash Mob updates by following the group on their Facebook page or through their Twitter account.
