A Knoxville based marine unit that's faced a tough deployment to Afghanistan is back on U.S. soil. They expect to be home in East Tennessee by the end of the week.
Cody Evans is part of Delta Company. The marine lost both his legs after an attack in Afghanistan in December.
As he recovers at a hospital out of state, volunteers have been remodeling his home in Speedwell to make it easier for him to get around.
Several other marines in Evans' unit have also been injured. Delta Company has lost two marines in recent deployments.
Wednesday night, the rest of the unit is in North Carolina. They're expected to return to East Tennessee on Friday.
