The 10 Commandments, along with other historical documents, were set to go up in the Monroe County Courthouse this week.

But now, the county's attorney says a potential legal threat caused that to be postponed.

He says there is concern about a possible challenge to the new state law, claiming a violation of the establishment clause of the 1st amendment.

The new law allows the 10 Commandments to go back up on display in the courthouse, as long as they are alongside other historical documents.

Monroe County first removed the document from its courthouse in 2005 when the Supreme Court ruled in a similar McCreary County, Kentucky case that such acts endorsed religion.

Now, the re-hanging of the 10 Commandments remains on hold.
