Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge.
You can go to Hollywood right here in East Tennessee.
Just head to Pigeon Forge where you can get up close and personal with movie stars and television icons.
Visitors stroll down Hollywood Boulevard and act the part of paparazzi. Except they can get way closer to celebrities at the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge.
Sure they're wax figures but they look like the real thing.
"Each individual hair on every wax figure is individually hand punched. Every figure is hand carved by wax artists from around the country. They're just meticulous. It takes six months to produce every wax figure that's in this museum," Hollywood Wax Museum General Manager Richard O'Donnell said.
O'Donnell ran the wax museum in Gatlinburg and moved with it when it moved to Pigeon Forge.
"Everything that was in Gatlinburg is here plus we have twice as many celebrities in this facility as we had up there," he said.
It has twice as much square footage with more than 22,000 square feet.
Visitors interact with 105 celebrities, not counting the giant King Kong that greets visitors at the front door and climbs the building outside.
The wax figures withstand a lot of interaction.
"It is wax. It's fragile so there's always going to be mishaps. But we have an on duty curator. Her whole job is to do nothing but keep the figures perfect. She walks though every day, repairs anything that might get scratched, damaged, broken. Full time," he said.
One fun part is picking you favorite wax figure.
Richard O'Donnell reluctantly admits he as a favorite.
"They're all great but Clint Eastwood is my favorite," he said. "He is perfect right down to every detail in the furrow of his brow, the little cigar that he's smoking. The detail of Clint Eastwood is beautiful."
This super hot summer is no threat to the wax figures.
"The air conditioning cannot go out. W have redundant systems. That's not going to happen," he said.
Enjoy the air conditioning and celebrity sightings at the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge.
