Starting next month, Tennesseans who receive food stamps may see some changes as the state moves to extend and stagger benefit distribution.
The movement to adjust the distribution means some Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients may see a little bit of a delay in their payments in October.
Recipients received letters last month that detail the changes.
Everyone will continue to receive the same amount of benefits, and they will continue to be given out every 30 days, after the initial month of change.
The Tennessee Grocers and Convenience Store Association asked for the benefit issue dates to be extended to help with grocery availability.
Grocery stores will display signs as a reminder of the change.
