A Jefferson County marina owner will serve time behind bars for filing false tax returns.
A judge sentenced 69-year-old Stanley H. Veltkamp Thursday to serve four months in prison followed by one year of supervised release. Veltkamp has already paid more than $80,000 in restitution.
He co-owned Swann's Marina in Jefferson County.
During tax years 2004 through 2008, Veltkamp admitted to paying employees with cash to avoid paying social security and medicare taxes. He also admitted to filing false returns with the IRS.
