In the USA Today High School Sports Game of the Week, Oak Ridge snapped Powell's 25 game regular season winning streak. The streak dated back to the 2009 season.
Powell struck first with a field goal but the Oak Ridge defense locked down Tyshawn Gardin, Hagen Owenby and company to pull out the 21-3 win.
The Wildcats now have a clear path to the District 3-AAA title, which has been claimed by Powell the past two seasons.
Farragut picked up a big 23-10 victory over McMinn County, the eighth ranked 6A team in the state.
Jackson Fain rushed 22 times for 137 yards and touchdown for the Admirals. Nick Henningson had a big game on the defensive side, recording 11 tackles and a sack and recovering a fumble.
Sevier County and Dobyns-Bennett played two games that went down to the wire last year with each team winning one game a piece.
This year's game wasn't as close. Dobyns-Bennett used a fake punt touchdown to get out in front and cruised to a 51-21 win.
Tyler Ferguson returned a punt and an interception for a touchdown to help Loudon rout McMinn Central 42-28.
Alcoa exacted revenge from last year's upset loss to Austin-East. The Tornadoes scored their first TD less than a minute into the game and three different Alcoa backs reached pay dirt in the first half en route to a 55-12 win.
Austin-East starts the season 0-4 for the first time since 1978, when they finished 2-8. The Roadrunners have run through a gauntlet of a schedule early in the year, facing four state ranked teams- 5A #3 West, 5A #6 Powell, 4A #3 Fulton and 3A #2 Alcoa.
South-Doyle starts the season 4-0 for the first time since 2001. The Cherokees pounded Heritage 40-0.
West recovered from last week's loss to Maryville with a 42-7 win over Morristown East. The Rebels have a big district showdown with Farragut next week.
After three straight losing seasons including last year's 2-8 record, Seymour appears to be back to their winning ways of old. The Eagles took down an experienced Carter team 42-34 to move to 4-0. Seymour had previously put together a streak of 16 straight winning seasons from 1993 to 2008.
