Nearly three dozen Knoxville firefighters and their families are receiving some long overdue public recognition and thanks.
Thursday, KFD held a promotion ceremony for its newest assistant chiefs, captains and master fire fighters.
In all, 33 men were recognized as their loved ones and friends looked on.
The firefighters say the show of gratitude means a lot and that they're looking forward to the privilege of working together as a department.
"There's a lot of good guys that got promoted, and they take their job very seriously, and hopefully we'll make a big impact and be able to progress as their department progresses and we'll be able to take the department there," said Master Firefighter Matthew Cataline.
Pinning ceremonies like this one are long-time traditions here in Knoxville and around the country.
