A judge sentenced a Tennessee man who pleaded guilty to violating the Horse Protection Act to three years of probation and a $75,000 fine.

60-year-old Jackie L. McConnell is also required to report any ownership or interaction with horses, do 300 hours of public service, and write an article on horse soring practices.

McConnell pleaded guilty back in May, after the Humane Society of the U.S. released video showing McConnell and others at his Collierville farm soring, beating and whipping horses.
