Some Knox County School programs got a boost Thursday, thanks to a local business.
Cellular Sales gave $45-thousand dollars to the Great Schools Partnership. The organization uses private donations to help fund programs in Knox County Schools.
After the presentation, Cellular Sales officials toured the Verizon Cellular Sales Center for Academic Excellence at West High School. The center is funded by donations made to the Great Schools Partnership.
School officials say it is making a difference.
"This is a dedicated tutoring center. We do credit retrieval during the school day in this room, but after school we tutor students in math, English, science and we also do ACT preparation for the ACT exam," said Katherine Banner, West High School Principal.
The Great Schools Partnership is also a partner in this week's "Thank a Teacher Week" events.
