Many neighborhoods across East Tennessee participated in National Night Out. It's a program designed for neighbors to get together and meet each other, while getting familiar with police officers.
Tuesday, Target teamed up with the Maryville Police Department for a night of fun and food, information tables, brochures, even a K-9 demonstration were on hand to help the public learn more about the police department.
"All of our units and divisions in the police department, all of our detectives, SWAT team, we bring all of our divisions here and set up a table and then the public can come to each table and ask questions. We've got brochures and information about the police department," said Officer Shane Collins.
National Night Out was originally supposed to happen in August, but it was rescheduled due to heat.
