We're getting another look at plans to expand a Downtown Knoxville parking garage used by thousands of East Tennesseans.

Thursday, the city held another informational meeting about the plans for the State Street Garage. They say they want everyone to be on the same page and know what to expect.

As it stands now, the construction work won't really impact anyone during the next few months. Officials say January is when people downtown could see a few traffic hang-ups.

"At the first of the year, we'll be actually blocking off Central for some period and State for some period of time, and probably the top deck will be off limits -- up to 300 spaces up there won't be able to be used in the garage. We're still evaluating all the situations right now," said Rick Emmett, downtown coordinator.

Right now, the State Street Garage has room for 800 drivers. The expansion calls for an additional level, which will add enough space for more than 1,000 vehicles.

The work is expected to be completed by next June.
