TDOT is hitting the road across Tennessee to get a first-hand look at roadwork projects. East Tennessee is the final and fourth leg of the statewide road trip.
TDOT Commissioner John Schroer and top-ranking transportation officials made stops in Knox and Union counties on Tuesday, which was day two of their tour of East Tennessee.
They visited a spot outside of the Aubrey's in North Knoxville off Emory Road, the Henley Bridge and Union County High School, among others.
Schroer says the tour is a great way for him and his staff to decide which projects to pick come decision time in the spring.
"For everybody to have seen the project, seen the area, talk to the legislators, talk to the mayors, find out what's important to them-- and that helps us do our priority list," he said.
This is the second year of the TDOT bust tour. On Wednesday, Schroer and his staff will visit Sevier, Hamblen, Jefferson, Greene and Washington counties.
