They call it "down home fun." BBQ, Blue Jeans and Cas is an annual event put on by the East Tennessee Historical Society.
Organizers say the BBQ is the food, blue jeans are the dress code, and Cas is the man Cas Walker. If you've lived around here long enough, you know who he was-- an outspoken East Tennessee politician, businessman and even radio and television personality.
Above all, Tuesday's event was about having a good time and bringing in cash for a good cause-- the history society.
"It's a part fundraiser, but it's also a fun-raiser, F-U-N raiser, it's a way for people to realize that history is fun, and just have a lot of fun with it. It's not boring and dull, we have a wonderful heritage, and this is part of it, and we can have fun with it," said Cherel Henderson, director of the East Tennessee Historical Society.
Tuesday's party was held at Ciderville, USA in Powell, which calls itself part music store and part museum of all things East Tennessee.
