Jefferson County opened a new 9-1-1 center on Wednesday. Dozens of Jefferson County commissioners and dignitaries gathered outside the new building in New Market.
It took years to see the change. The building has all new technology and has room for growth.
The 9-1-1 director says residents will notice a difference with the new building, which came in ahead of schedule.
"I am very thankful that I am a resident of Jefferson County and these emergency services will one day take care of me. So this is just a facility that the only thing I can say is I am extremely proud and thankful to the folks of the county for providing this," said Marcus Reed.
The building will also house part of the ambulance service for the county.
