Construction has officially started on the State Street Garage expansion in Downtown Knoxville.
According to a blog about the expansion project, crews closed a lane along Central Avenue on Wednesday to begin work needed for the foundation and new addition. Crews will also remove some trees from along the building this week.
The expansion project will add about 250 parking spaces to the garage. Work is expected to be done by next June.
