Knoxville leaders honored several Knoxville police officers for their work on Thursday.
Officer Brian Mullane, Officer Joey Whitehead and Lieutenant Cheri Matlock received Officer of the Month honors for July, August, and September.
The department also gave special recognition to Lieutenant Gene Sasscer by awarding him a service medal.
Sasscer leads the repeat offender squad. His bosses say he has been instrumental in the cooperative effort to take action in those cases.
"It's really, it's a great honor to be able to recognize them. And I think it's important and it's appropriate that we take the time to show them our appreciation for the hard work they do everyday," said Chief David Rausch.
