Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Bruce Beckford and Lamont Middleton each
scored 19 points, leading the North Carolina A&T Aggies to an 85-60 victory
over the Campbell Fighting Camels in consolation round action of the Global
Sports Classic at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Beckford converted all eight of his shots from the floor for NC A&T (2-4),
while Middleton went 7-of-11 from the floor, while handing out five assists.
The Aggies also received solid offensive contributions from Adrian Powell, who
netted 14 points, and Jean Louisme and R.J. Buck who added 13 points apiece.
Campbell (2-4) was led in the scoring column by Trey Freeman who finished with
13 points in the loss. Darren White added 12 points, while Darian Hooker and
Antwon Oliver chipped in with nine and eight points, respectively.
The Aggies converted a scorching 16-of-24 shots from the floor in the first
half, led by Milddleton's 13 points, to take a commanding 14-point lead into
intermission (43-29).
The second half featured more of the same, as NC A&T knocked down 15-of-27
shots over the final 20 minutes (.556) to cruise to victory.
NC A&T shot a blistering 60.8 percent from the floor in the game and knocked
down eight 3-pointers in the win. Meanwhile, Campbell was held to a mere 33.9
percent effort, including just 5-of-26 from behind the arc (.192).
Both these teams will close out tournament play on Saturday with their
opponents to be determined by the outcome of the Northern Arizona/Jacksonville
State game.
