Youngstown, OH (Sports Network) - Chris Evans recorded a double-double with 24
points and 10 rebounds as he helped guide the Kent State Golden Flashes to an
85-78 overtime win against the Youngstown State Penguins at the Beeghly
Center.
Evans shot 7-of-13 from the floor in his impressive performance for the Golden
Flashes (5-2). Randal Holt added 21 points thanks to five three-pointers,
while Melvin Tabb added 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Kendrick Perry was the leading scorer in the loss for the Penguins (3-4) with
26 points. Damian Eargle recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10
rebounds, not to mention four blocks, while Blake Allen added 12 points.
The Penguins led 36-34 at halftime despite converting a mere 1-of-10 behind
the three-point line and turning the ball over seven times through the first
20 minutes of action.
In the second half the lead was traded back and forth but with 1:14 remaining,
Kamren Belin made the first of two free-throws to tie the game at 68-68 and
eventually send the meeting into overtime.
In the extra session, KSU hit 8-of-9 free-throw attempts as it went on to earn
the victory.
YSU finished the contest shooting only 4-of-20 behind the three-point line.
