Edwardsville, IL (Sports Network) - Patrick Miller recorded a double-double
with 17 points and 11 assists as the Tennessee State Tigers defeated the SIU
Edwardsville Cougars, 83-73, in Ohio Valley Conference play at the Vadalabene
Center.
Kellen Thornton contributed a team high 22 points and seven rebounds for the
Tigers (16-11, 10-4 OVC). Jordan Cyphers and Robert Covington both scored 18
points as Tennessee State won for the fourth time in five games.
For the Cougars (9-15, 5-9), Kris Davis pumped in a game-high 25 points. Tim
Johnson added 18 points and Mark Yelovich chipped in 12 points as SIUE
suffered its fourth setback in five outings.
Tennessee State went 16-of-31 from the floor including 8-of-12 beyond the arc
in the first half. SIUE managed to make 15-of-31 of its field goals attempts
including 3-of-7 from long range, as the Tigers took a 44-41 advantage at the
half.
Tennessee State continued its impressive shooting, knocking down 14-of-21 from
the floor including 2-of-3 beyond the arc. It also held SIUE to a mere 1-of-6
makes from beyond the arc en route to the 10-point victory.
SIUE was held to 4-of-13 from long-range. Tennessee State made 57.7 percent
from the floor including 10-of-15 3-pointers on the night.
