Kids and their parents got the chance to check out dozens of camps, classes and activities at the Knoxville Convention Center on Sunday.
The Summer Camp Fair gave kids the chance to see which of these activities would be great fits for their summer adventures. The event showcased many options, including golf, theater, fit and wilderness camps.
Sandra Byrd, the event's director of development and public relations, said camp can be a great learning experience for children.
"Kids get in touch with nature. They learn a lot about themselves that they didn't really know," said Byrd. "They learn they can do things that they didn't know before. They learn a lot while they're there."
For parent Karen Goosie, camp is a great way for her kids to stay active.
"They're not just sitting at home playing video games," said Goosie. "They're out there with other kids their age, and they're doing things that are fun."
Organizers said summer camp is a great way for kids to make friends and explore new options.
