The search for the suspects in Tuesday's shooting of a Knox County Sheriff's Deputy has now spread far beyond the Knoxville area.
Deputy Cory Johnson was shot in the shoulder after stopping to assist what he believed might be motorists in need of help.
Now authorities in several states are looking for what Johnson described as two hispanic men driving an older-model, white work van with ladders on top.
In East Tennessee, dozens of vehicles matching the description have been pulled over since the shooting, but none have yielded any leads in the case.
Dispatchers at the Knox County 911 Center answered hundreds of calls from citizens with tips.
