The man charged with molesting four kids at Dixie Stampede faced a judge and the parents of his alleged victims Thursday. Armando Gonzalez was arraigned on 12 counts of molesting children.
Before court started, the judge reminded everyone, despite the emotional nature of the case, to stay quiet. It was clear that was a struggle as the parents sat just feet away from the man they believe molested their children.
Emotions ran high as the parents of the alleged victims got a first look at the accused.
"I'm just tickled beyond capacity that he's caught, and this is closure for my son," said Barbara Gordon, the mother of an alleged victim.
There was elation at finally seeing Armando Gonzalez in custody after more than a year on the run.
"This is better than winning the lottery, it really is," said Gordon.
And there are tears as the judge reads the charges in court and sets bond at one million dollars. The parents alternate between hiding their faces and straining for a glimpse. Once the hearing is over emotions overflow.
"To look at him in the face and to know what he did to my son," said the father of an alleged victim, Frank Gordon.
Gordon says he did everything he could to keep quiet in court, but it was tough.
"Very, I mean I'm just shaking right now. I'm just thankful I kept myself under control. I don't know how I did it," said Gordon. If Gonzalez is convicted, Gordon says there is nothing they could give him that would be enough.
"My son's got to live with it the rest of his life," said Gordon.
Gonzalez is scheduled to be back in court with a public defender next month.
