Gay activists on a tour of college campuses say they were well-treated at Lee University, but say their bus was spray painted overnight.
Members of the group Soulforce are on a 51-day tour of colleges to oppose what they call "religion-based discrimination."
The Church of God-affiliated Lee didn't provide a forum for the group, but members say they received a friendly reception on campus yesterday.
They awoke today to find someone had sprayed a slur in pink paint on their bus at their motel.
Jacob Reitan of Soulforce says the bus driver saw a middle age woman and a teenage boy driving away.
Reitan called the spray-painted message "hate speech," but said the group may leave it on the bus as symbol of the intolerance many gays face.
Soulforce is scheduled to visit Union University in Jackson tomorrow.
