Former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker's e-mails are missing and may have been stolen, city officials say. The campaign of Republican US Senate candidate Ed Bryant requested the mayoral e-mails last month but found the city of Chattanooga did not have the electronic data, which was contained on a compact disc. Corker, who left office in April 2005, is seeking the Republican Senate nomination in the August 3rd primary election along with former congressmen Bryant and Van Hilleary. City spokesman Ken Kitchen said Corker's e-mails were among the e-mail files of 35 former employees stored on CDs discovered missing last month. Kitchen said the CDs had been stored in a secure vault at City Hall but were moved to offices at Warehouse Row last summer because of renovations. He said the CDs may have gotten misplaced in the move. About 100 CDs were stored in an equipment closet and five to seven are missing. The remaining CDs have since been moved to a secure facility.
