The longest strike in Boeing's modern history is now over but not everyone will return to work for good.

For the past 102 days, you've likely seen striking Boeing workers out waving their signs. The seasons may have changed but never a change in their resolve.

"I was out there pulling my duty every three days and that's 4:00 to 8:00 in the morning. That's what we do," says John Mitchell, 25 year employee.

On Wednesday, many of those workers who walked off the job at the Oak Ridge Plant back on August 5th came to union headquarters to stand up for their beliefs.

"We have done the right thing and voted by 78 percent yes. I'm proud of you people," says Michael Minor, Union President.

It was a history making vote that ended the airline manufacturer's longest strike.

197 people voted yes. 53 voted no.

A bittersweet victory.

Minor says, "This means we are going back to work on the 27th."

"All but 180 people don't leave them out," said an employee in the crowd.

The new contract included higher wages and pensions but significant job cuts.

"This is the same contract. We were given in the beginning when we voted to strike. It doesn't make sense. They are forcing our hands. They are telling us we're getting laid off. They are scaring us into going back to work," says Betty Smith, 20 year Employee.

So instead of the picket line, many union workers will now be walking towards the unemployment line.

Tony Gregory, 22 year Employee says, "It's not a good feeling. It's very unsettling. Starting over is pretty tough."

A Boeing Spokesperson says they plan to open a Career Center to help laid off employees find new jobs and retrain.

They will also keep them on the payroll for a period of time and extend health care benefits.
