An historic Knoxville building that has become a neighborhood eyesore is now in the hands of a new development partnership.

The 4th and Gill neighborhood has been waiting five years for someone to save the deteriorating Brownlow School, owned by developer and Metro Pulse publisher Brian Conley.

Conley has now teamed up with developers Kinsey, Probasco and Hays, and renovation work on Brownlow is expected to begin in the fall.

The developers' $4 million proposal is to build 30 condos, but it depends on a tax subsidy for which they plan to apply.
