The January double murder of Knoxvillians Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom has become a rallying cause for several racial hate groups across the country.

On Monday, Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale proposed a resolution addressing the stated plans of several of these groups planning protests marches in Knoxville. In a letter to county leaders, Ragsdale said, "The ultimate outcome of their gathering will spread hate and discrimination -- something our community should not condone or tolerate."

The resolution was passed by two county committees, but still has to be approved by the full County Commission.
