Officials at Fort Campbell say two children have died in an early morning fire at a soldier's housing unit on the Army post.

Base information officers say the blaze was reported around 1:30 this morning in Lee Village -- a housing complex at Fort Campbell.

Officials say a soldier, his wife and three children were in the apartment when the fire broke out.

A two-year-old girl was pronounced dead at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on the post.

A nine-year-old boy and his mother were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where the boy was pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Army post is the home of the 101st Airborne Division. It's about 50 miles northwest of Nashville.
