Idaho Senator Larry Craig is denying any inappropriate conduct in connection with an arrest at the Minneapolis airport, following an encounter in a men's restroom. He pleaded guilty this month to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper, reports the arresting officer was seated in a stall next to a stall occupied by Craig. The officer describes Craig tapping his foot, which the officer says is "a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct." Craig says police misconstrued his actions. He says he now regrets pleading guilty, saying he was only trying to resolve the matter quickly. Last fall, Craig called allegations from a gay-rights activist that he's had homosexual relationships "completely ridiculous." Craig also announced he has stepped down from Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. Craig had served as a Senate liaison for the campaign since February.
