The Tennessee Department of Transportation is out to spread the word on SmartFIX40 in an artistic way.

The project will close I-40 through downtown Knoxville on May 1.

A custom poster depicts the new signature bridge on Hall of Fame Drive over I-40, with the downtown skyline in the background. At the bottom, it includes various places you can find information about the product.

More than 2700 of the posters will be placed in restaurants, hotels, and other high-traffic areas.

"We talked to a couple of businesses, and they said they wouldn't mind putting something up if it looked nice," TDOT spokesman Travis Brickey said. "One thing led to another, and we're very pleased with how it came out."

The one-mile section of I-40 between James White Parkway and Hall of Fame Drive will close for 14 monts at midnight on May 1.

If you have questions about the SmartFIX40 project, you'd like answered, please e-mail us. We'll try to answer it in an upcoming special.
