A member of the Screen Actors Guild is helping the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church recover from a traumatic shooting.

After the July tragedy, self-proclaimed "actor-vist" Gary Anderson wanted to reach out to the victims.

"After I read of their faith, their courage after this tremendous act of violence that had been inflicted upon them and their members, directed at their children, how could I not call?" Anderson said.

Anderson is famous for his portrayal of Clarence Darrow, the defense attorney in "The Scopes Monkey Trial". So he decided to do what he knows best: act.

All the proceeds from the show, which will be held in the church's sanctuary where the shooting took place, will go to the youth ministry's "Heritage Trip" to Boston.

The church attempts to take the heritage trip to Boston every other year. Boston is considered the "epicenter" of the Unitarian Universalist Church.
