The clock is ticking on a man waiting to find out his fate in federal court next week.
Meanwhile, motions from the defense and prosecution are flooding the court.
In April, a jury convicted Eric Boyd as an accessory after the fact for helping an accused carjacker and murderer hide from police.
Lemaricus Davidson is one of four defendants charged with killing a young couple in January 2007.
Channon Christian and Chris Newsom were raped, tortured and killed. Investigators say the young couple was on a date when they were carjacked at the Washington Ridge Apartments and taken to a house on Chipman Street.
Defense Attorney Phil Lomanaco filed a motion on Wednesday asking for a reduced sentence for Boyd because he helped police find Davidson.
In the motion, Lomanaco writes, "Eric Boyd assisted in the apprehension of Lemaricus Davidson, the very person that he was accused of aiding and abetting. Without Eric Boyd's help the apprehension of Lemaricus Davidson would not have occurred in anywhere near a timely fashion."
Lomanaco says police officers thanked Boyd for his help.
"These facts and circumstances support strong cooperation and assistance to the police and law enforcement," Lomanaco included in the court submitted document.
On Friday, the prosecution fired back saying the defendant has admitted guilt in no fewer than nine armed robberies with approximately 40 total victims.
In the United States' sentencing memorandum Assistant United States Attorneys Tracy Stone and David Jennings, the prosecution maps out Boyd's criminal history.
"Based on defendant's conduct underlying the conviction offenses and defendant's sobering criminal history of assaultive robberies, victimization and gun violence toward other, the United States encourages the Court to fashion the strongest possible sentence..." Jennings and Stone wrote.
The US Attorney is asking the court to sentence Boyd to 18 years in prison. "This sentence is necessary to protect the public from further crimes of this defendant," the US Attorneys wrote.
"Defendant actively hid out alongside Davidson, sought methods of flight for Davidson, set up and utilized a confidential communication system involving cellular telephones between himself and Davidson, broke into a vacant residence with Davidson for the purpose of hiding out with Davidson inside, brought food to Davidson, and initially lied to the police about Davidson's whereabouts," the sentencing memorandum states.
The prosecution goes on to give specific details of Boyd's criminal history. "Defendant fired a pistol during the commission of three of the robberies-on one occasion into the ceiling, on a second occasion in the direction of a store clerk to keep the clerk from reaching for the telephone, and on a third occasion directly into the automobile of an eyewitness presumably to kill the witness and avoid being identified. Defendant committed and/or participated in all of these robberies over the span of less than two and a half months in 1994" US Attorneys wrote.
Prosecuting attorneys concluded the memorandum by saying, "This defendant demonstrated in 1994 that he had no regard for the value of human life when he endangered the lives of so many people during his violent crime spree. Defendant demonstrated this predatory attitude once again in January 2007, when he did his best to accomplish the flight of one of the perpretators of one of, if not the most, horrendous crimes ever committed in Knoxville, Tennessee. For the protection of citizens who have yet to suffere at hand or those of his accessories, like Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom suffered, the Court must impose the maximum sentence allowable under the law."
Boyd's sentencing hearing is Wednesday.
