Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's can be challenging.

According to Alzheimer's specialist, Dr. Teresa Catron, caregivers have to deal with many issues from navigating changes in the relationship to handling personal care.

One local caregiver, Carl McCarter, feels the pressures of caring for his wife of 43 years, Ellie. However he told Ten New's Russell Biven that being there for his wife can also be a rewarding experience.

November is National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month and National Family Caregiver's Month. The Alzheimer's Association is offering caregiver training classes Monday, Nov. 17th and Tuesday, Nov. 18th.

During those sessions, experts will answer questions like:

  1. What are some of the biggest challenges for caregivers and how can they cope with them?
  2. What type of help is available for caregivers?
  3. What are some good tips to get through the holidays?
