Kyle Petty no longer with Petty Enterprises

The financial crunch that hit Wall Street and the average American's wallet is also making a mark in NASCAR.

After Petty Enterprises Racing entered into a partnership agreement with Boston Ventures, Kyle said he was out of a ride at the end of this season.

Petty Enterprises is currently in merger discussions with Gillett Evernham Motorsports.

Kyle's departure means that in one twelve month span, the sons of two of the sports legends and biggest names have left the racing teams they started.

Dale Earnhardt, Junior, left DEI after last season to drive for Hendrick Motorsports.
