Volquest.com is reporting that former Ole Miss head coach and current New Orleans Saints defensive line coach Ed Orgeron has agreed to join Lane Kiffin's staff at Tennessee.

Reports earlier this week had the Louisiana native staying in his home state and joining LSU, though those reports were never confirmed.

According to Rivals.com, Kiffin flew to Fort Walton, Florida, New Year's Eve to meet with Orgeron and his family to finalize the deal. Orgeron worked with Kiffin at Southern California, where both were known for their recruiting efforts.

Volquest.com reports that Orgeron is expected to be named the defensive line coach, and that his salary will be at least $650,000 per year.

This comes close on the heels of news that Jim Chaney will be hired as offensive coordinator. Chaney spent the past three seasons as tight ends coach for the St. Louis Rams.

Chaney also was offensive coordinator at Purdue for five years where he worked with quarterbacks Kyle Orton and Drew Brees.

Volquest.com also reports that Detroit Lions secondary coach Jimmy Lake is expected to interview for the same position with UT. According to Volquest, he is the leading candidate for that job.
