Harolyn Dean Branam's attorney Mike Hatmaker entered a "not guilty" plea on his client's behalf on Monday. Branam, a Campbell County school teacher, is facing charges he committed sex crimes against students.

A Campbell County grand jury indicted Harolyn Dean Branam on 10 counts alleging unlawful contact with students.

Branam is accused of the assault and sexual battery of a 14-year-old girl and two 13 year-old girls. He is additionally accused of the assault of two other 14-year-old girls, a 13-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl.

The indictment alleges the incidents happened between February and March of this year.

Branam was arrested on the indictment March 27.

A supervisor with the Campbell County Schools, Karen Bundren, said Thursday that Branam has retired, having turned in his retirement notice on March 20. He had been with the school system for more than 30 years. He was teaching at Jacksboro Middle School at the time of his retirement.

A trial date has been set for Sept. 9.
