The students, teachers, and staff at Maynardville Elementary were briefly evacuated from the building Thursday morning, after an air conditioner fire.
An air conditioner unit attached to a modular classroom started smoking after a teacher had opened the classroom up. The classroom is used as a learning lab.
No students were in the modular classroom at the time.
In all, about 750 students were evacuated from the building, along with the teachers.
Emergency responders got the call a few minutes after 10 a.m. Everyone was allowed back in the building at 10:30.
