Five children have been removed from the home where a 4-year-old South Knoxville drowning victim lived.

Their mother, Angela Stusse, is the aunt of Curtis Lee Crisp, who drowned in the pool at Zaina Apartments on Sunday, May 10.

Stusse shares a South Knoxville residence with other members of her family, including Crisp's mother, Maggie Ison.

Ison's children, who are Crisp's siblings, were not taken into custody.

So far, Stusse does not face any charges and says she will be in Juvenile Court on Friday morning to fight to get her kids back.

Victim identified

Authorities have now identified the child who drowned in a South Knoxville pool Sunday afternoon.

Four-year-old Curtis Lee Crisp was pronounced dead at Children's Hospital after an apparent drowning at Zaina apartments.

The investigation is ongoing; the district attorney's office will decide if any charges are warranted after forensic results come back.

Crisp was playing in the pool with a seven-year-old cousin and some friends when he went under around 3 p.m., according to Knoxville Police.

Efforts to revive

A woman who was visiting her mother at the complex said she heard the seven-year-old screaming for help and found the four-year-old underwater.

The woman, who said she is a nurse, tried to pull the boy out but could not. With the help of another person, she pulled the child from the pool and began performing CPR.

An ambulance took the boy to East Tennessee Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The pool does not have a lifeguard on duty, and officers were not sure if the pool was open to swimmers at the time.

The children did not live at the complex and apparently walked to the pool, according to KPD.

(The victim, Curtis Lee Crisp, was previously listed as being three years old. Police have since updated their information.)
