Troopers are trying to determine what caused two separate fatal crashes Saturday morning in northeast Tennessee.

The first happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Trent Valley Road in Sneedville in Hancock County.

Troopers say 20 year old Orry Trent was driving an ATV on Trent Valley Road when he lost control in a curve.

The ATV hit a tree and Trent was thrown off, along with his passenger, 18 year old Megan Smith.

Smith was killed.

Neither one was wearing a helmet. Troopers believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

At 11 a.m. in Rogersville in Hawkins County, 28 year old Jeffrey Boatman was killed when he lost control of a pickup truck on Old Highway 11-W.

It hit several trees before coming to rest on its side.

A passenger in the truck was hurt.

Both men were wearing seatbelts.

Troopers do not believe alcohol played a role in the Hawkins County crash.
